Annual Physical Exam
During your Comprehensive Annual Physical Exam, your doctor
will take your BP (Blood Pressure), calculate your BMI
(body
mass index), will review your organs health, and examine your skin.
If you are under 50 years of age, your physical
exam will include screening and prevention of:
- Cervical cancer
- Depression
- Injuries (MVA, domestic violence)
- Lifestyle-related problems (Obesity, Physical activity)
- Sexually-transmitted infections (Chlamidia, Gonorrhea, HIV)
- Substance abuse
If you are over 50 years of age, your physical exam will include
screening and prevention of:
- Cardiovascular disease (Heart attack and stroke), one time ultrasound screening for
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in male smokers between 65-75) - Cancer (Lung cancer, Colorectal cancer, Breast cancer, Prostate cancer, Cervical cancer)
- Depression
- Diabetes
- Immunization-preventable diseases (Influenza for > 50 yo, Pneumococcal vaccine for >65, Herpes zoster for > 60)
- Injuries (Falls and bone fractures for > 65, Motor vehicle crashes, Domestic violence)
- Lifestyle-related problems (Obesity, Physical activity)
- Substance abuse
- Vision problems (for > 65)
- Hearing problems (for > 65)
If you need blood work, mammogram, Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT), Sigmoidoscopy/
Barium studies, colonoscopy, bone mineral density scan, EKG or ultrasound you will be
asked at the time of your visit.
